CHINA 17/12/2005 - 04/01/2006
If I had to describe China in a couple of words I would say it's probably a mixture of the following:

This must be one of the nicest halls I've ever played in - Forbidden City Hall in Beijing:
In Nanjing I was looked after by six bodyguards.. Here you can see me with three of them at a press conference at the Crown Plaza Hotel. Very scary!
If you have six bodyguards you need concert posters to match them- this is one of the medium sized ones and me next to it so you can really see how big it was!
The stadium we played in had about 14*C for the rehearsal (in case you wonder whether I always play with my coat and scarf on), but 6000 people in the audience warmed it up nicely to about 18*C..

Well, here we have the other nicest hall, the Grand Theatre in Hangzhou. The acoustics aren't as amazing as in Beijing but look at the architecture!

This is what it looks like from outside:
One place you have to go to when you are in Shanghai is the 88th floor of Jin Mao Tower. Unbelievably beautiful views over the city (however, you might feel a bit bored if you don't like modern architecture)...

... but also an amazing view down into the Shanghai Hyatt Hotel which is on floors 53-86 (you might not be too impressed if you don't like fancy hotels). What you can see in the middle is the reception. Well, I do like fancy hotels, so next time I go to Shanghai I know where to stay..
Oh, and as a little dessert I'll show you a very interesting way of transporting pianos! First of all, the piano sounded great, and second of all, it was raining that day..
