Born of German-Japanese parentage, Maya Koch performs around the world both as soloist and as violinist with the London Conchord Ensemble. She has appeared at venues throughout Europe, Japan and China including London's Wigmore Hall, Cheltenham Festival, Prussia Cove, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro della Pergola Florence, Teatro Olimpico Vicenza, Tsuda Hall Tokyo, Forbidden City Hall Beijing and Grand Theatre Hangzhou.

Maya's recording of recital works by Poulenc, Stravinsky and Milhaud for Orchid Classics received the Recital Selection of The Month in Strad Magazine, the review exclaiming "this recital disc simply oozes class ... playing with an elegance and natural warmth that is delectable... Bravo!"
The London Conchord Ensemble's new recording "St Petersburg" for Orchid Classics has been singled out for praise which included being given 5 stars and CD of the week from the Daily Telegraph.

Maya Koch has played as soloist with many orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz. In 2006 she completed a 12 concert tour of China, playing Beethoven's violin concerto in cities including Beijing and Shanghai. The tour, which received widespread critical acclaim, began with a sold out concert in Stuttgart's Liederhalle.

Other chamber music activities have seen collaborations with such artists as Martha Argerich, Ivry Gitlis, her sister Sara Koch and The Schubert Ensemble.

Performances of recent seasons include the Last Night of the Welsh Proms with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Vivaldi's Four Seasons in Windsor Castle (Waterloo Chambers), a concerto tour of Germany including Stuttgart's Liederhalle and chamber music performances at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels.

Maya Koch studied with Josef Rissin in Karlsruhe, Jean-Jacques Kantorow at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music in London. Her numerous prizes and awards include the Bach Prize in Baden-Baden and first prize at the International Lions Competition for Violinists in Porto, Portugal.

She has been broadcast by BBC Radio 3, NHK Tokyo and several national radio stations in Germany.

Maya is founder of the Lenny Trusler Children's Foundation which raises money for sick babies through musical projects. The charity was launched in 2008 with a concert in Kings Place, London and has already been awarded Charity of the year by Reef TV, an award which includes a donation of £10000 towards their first mission, a family room in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Whittington Hospital.
